in Ethereum liquidations in October 2025, CoinFello’s automation could have helped avoid losses by proactively shifting positions. Jacobc.eth, the founder of CoinFello and former MetaMask operations head, highlighted that the platform "reduces risk and increases accessibility," for widespread DeFi adoption.

The app also utilizes MetaMask’s Smart Accounts Kit to make DeFi operations smoother.

"Sell my meme coins to buy more ETH" or "Protect my loan positions from liquidation during market swings," with CoinFello handling technical details like token transfers and gas fee calculations. This feature supports Consensys’ vision for agentic AI, where at Consensys puts it, "granular permissions let users specify exactly what they want to do on-chain."

CoinFello is currently in a closed alpha stage, with plans for a public launch in the first quarter of 2026. The development team, which includes veterans from MetaMask, gaming, and AI sectors, is focused on overcoming major obstacles to DeFi adoption, such as disjointed user experiences and high entry barriers. HyperPlay Labs, the company behind the project, also

Although this release is a major advancement for DeFi accessibility,

. Some critics point out the importance of strong governance systems to ensure AI agents act transparently and ethically. Even so, and its focus on user needs could make it a transformative force in the crypto industry.
