according to Decrypt, Polymarket announced the 2025 Google search trend results yesterday, with the obscure singer d4vd unexpectedly winning. A user with the codename 0xafEe accurately bet on all the main candidates, earning 1.15 million USD, raising suspicions of insider trading.
The user not only correctly predicted d4vd's victory (which had only a 0.2% chance at the time) but also accurately judged the defeat of popular candidates like Pope Leo XIV and Trump. The user immediately changed their nickname afterward, adding to the suspicion. Polymarket senior user Car questioned on the X platform: this is basically an insider employee making extra money.
However, some believe insider trading is a feature rather than a flaw of such platforms, making prediction markets closer to real probabilities.
