Unexpected Bitcoin Statement from BlackRock! What Does It Mean for BTC?

While Bitcoin (BTC) reached many records in 2025, it experienced a significant decline in the last quarter.

Bitcoin, which has been unable to recover since October, continues to move within a narrow range.

Despite the sharp declines in Bitcoin’s price, BlackRock still considers BTC to be its most important investment theme.

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, announced Bitcoin and its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) fund as one of the top three most important investment themes for 2025 at a high-profile investment summit held in New York on December 22, 2025.

BlackRock has identified Bitcoin as one of the top investment themes for 2025, citing its growing popularity among institutional investors.

In this context, BlackRock has positioned Bitcoin and its spot Bitcoin fund as three cornerstones of a modern, diversified investment portfolio, alongside US Treasury bonds and “Technology Big Seven” stocks.

Bitcoin has lost more than 4% of its value since the beginning of the year, and its price performance has been weak. Although the IBIT fund also reflects BTC’s weak performance, the ETF has attracted strong investor interest.

IBIT ranked sixth among all ETFs based on inflows for 2025 and attracted over $25 billion in funds since January.

While BlackRock’s Bitcoin characterization has drawn attention from the industry, ETF Store President Nate Geraci stated that BlackRock’s move was not solely revenue-driven.

Geraci noted that while BlackRock has the option of promoting alternative products like gold ETFs, which charge higher fees and outperform IBIT, its focus on Bitcoin is significant. According to Geraci, by highlighting a Bitcoin ETF, BlackRock has clearly demonstrated its belief that Bitcoin is a permanent part of balanced portfolios.

In conclusion, BlackRock’s endorsement of a Bitcoin fund underscores Bitcoin’s growing acceptance as a significant asset class and reflects its increasing role in global investment strategies.
