Polygon zkEVM co-founder: Ethereum rollups data capacity will increase significantly after the EIP-4844 upgrade
According to The Block, the Ethereum Dencun upgrade is expected to take place in mid-March and will bring significant improvements in the form of "proto-danksharding" through EIP-4844. Jordi Baylina, co-founder and technical lead of Polygon zkEVM, stated that the main challenge faced by ZK rollups is the cost of data availability. EIP-4844 may play an important role in reshaping the capacity and gas fees of Polygon zkEVM. After implementing EIP-4844 in the Dencun upgrade, Ethereum's total data availability capacity will increase by three times. Combining EIP-4844 with data compression could potentially reduce costs from 10 times to 50 times; however, actual cost savings will depend on various factors.
