The Personal Information Protection Commission of South Korea is investigating Worldcoin
The Personal Information Protection Commission of South Korea is investigating Worldcoin, a project that has sparked complaints for scanning people's irises in exchange for cryptocurrency. Worldcoin is accused of collecting facial and iris information at ten locations in South Korea.
The commission stated that if violations of local privacy regulations are found, action will be taken against the project.
Previously, the commission fined OpenAI 3.6 million Korean won (2703 US dollars) for the leakage of personal information of 687 South Korean citizens by its ChatGPT. Worldcoin has not responded to requests for comments yet.
