Ethereum blobs are being used to create inscriptions, and on March 27th, a total of 2437 Ethereum blob inscriptions were created
Data from Dune Analytics shows that Ethereum blobs are being used to create inscriptions, which is very similar to Ordinal on Bitcoin, and the usage speed has set a new record. Dune Analytics platform user Hildobby stated that there were 2,437 blob inscriptions on March 27th, accounting for 22.8% of the total number of blobs released that day. This is the highest usage rate of blobs in other Ethereum Layer 2s (such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Base and Linea).
In addition, the increase in the number of blob inscriptions occurred simultaneously with a surge in fees on Base, which at one point reached $300 before falling back to around $30. The utilization rate of slots in Ethereum is also declining, possibly due to blobs causing an increase in block size.
User Hildobby wrote on the Dune Analytics website: "The inscription on EVM chain is data embedded within transaction call data similar to Ordinal on Bitcoin; it aims to mimic diversity based upon smart contract-based ERC-20 and NFTs. However, inscriptions contradict EVM's design decisions - gas cost being its only benefit but at expense of indexing challenges ,incompatibility issues and integration difficulties."
