The inscription drives the blob to reach the usage capacity limit set on Ethereum
PANews reported on March 28th, according to The Block, the number of Blob transactions on Ethereum has surged beyond the network's set capacity. This growth trend stems from the introduction of Blob inscriptions, which increased demand for Blob utilization.
Ethereum core developers previously implemented a Dencun upgrade on the mainnet, introducing the "Blob" feature to reduce Layer 2 transaction costs. It successfully allowed Layer 2 to use Blobs instead of publishing transactions via the "calldata" method, thereby directly reducing costs and passing these savings onto end users. However, recent introductions of inscription features on Blob have begun stress testing this characteristic.
Analysis from a Dune Analytics dashboard maintained by Hildobby showed a significant trend: now 40% of Blob transactions are related to inscriptions. This is the highest usage rate among blobs published in other Ethereum Layer2s such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Base and Linea.
