OpenAI showcases Sora to film companies including Paramount, Universal and Warner Bros. Exploration Company
According to the Financial Times, OpenAI held meetings with major film companies such as Paramount, Universal and Warner Brothers to showcase its video generation technology Sora. Multiple insiders stated that CEO Sam Altman and COO Brad Lightcap introduced Sora to the executives. Attendees of the meeting said that OpenAI is seeking advice from film companies on how to promote Sora. This gesture by OpenAI comes at a delicate time for Hollywood. Last year's months-long strike ended with the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild securing pioneering protections for artificial intelligence in their contracts. This year, contract negotiations are underway with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, where AI is expected to be a hot topic again. Sources say some film companies seem open-minded about using Sora in future movie or TV productions but have not yet discussed licensing and collaboration matters.
