Fox partners with Polygon Labs to combat deepfakes
According to TechCrunch, two months ago, media giant Fox Corporation partnered with Ethereum-focused second-layer blockchain team Polygon Labs to jointly address the crisis of trust caused by deepfakes. Fox and Polygon have launched the Verify protocol to protect their intellectual property while allowing consumers to verify the authenticity of content. Since then, government regulatory committees, publishers and others have embraced it as a viable solution to "the problem of the day," Fox Chief Technology Officer Melody Hildebrandt said on TechCrunch's Chain Reaction podcast. Hildebrandt said that as AI technology enters the mainstream, more news outlets, media companies, etc. will integrate this technology. This can be beneficial to both AI companies and creators: models gain knowledge, and media and individuals can validate their work. Mike Blank, COO of Polygon Labs, said this is also important for end users, who are unsure whether the content they consume can be trusted.
