Google accuses two Chinese software developers of using encrypted apps to defraud more than 100,000 victims
PANews reported on April 6 that Google recently sued two Chinese software developers in New York Federal Court, accusing them of committing a "pig-killing disk" scam by creating fake encryption applications and guiding more than 100,000 people to download them. Google said the applications developed by the two included fake cryptocurrency exchanges called TionRT and SkypeWallet, which were removed after user complaints and Google's investigation.
Google accuses Shenzhen-based Yunfeng Sun and Hong Kong-based Hongnam Cheung of creating at least 87 such apps since 2019. Some of these are classic pig-killing scams, where perpetrators talk to victims via messaging apps, gain their trust, and then convince them to invest in fake projects.
