Ryan Berckmans: Solana Will Never Surpass Ether
On September 28th, Ether community member Ryan Berckmans responded to Multicoin Partner Kyle's presentation at TOKEN2049 by saying that Solana will never outperform Ether, and that Solana is at the top of the cycle.
Berckmans believes that the fastest L2s of the future will be faster than Solana, and that Solana's speed and cost advantages will shrink to zero. the L2 model scales the way the world actually works, providing excellent value accumulation for ETH.
He points out that Kyle's story of Solana's strengths and progress has been overblown or completely fictionalized, ignoring Solana's structural disadvantages, such as the fact that 50k TPS is actually more like 1.1k TPS at most today.
Berckmans argues that Solana's real strengths are in leveraging centralization and vertical integration to accelerate growth, and having a higher level of curiosity and aggressiveness at the application layer than Ethernet.
