Italy fines OpenAI €15 million for privacy violations
on December 20th, the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) announced that it had fined ChatGPT manufacturer OpenAI €15 million (approximately $15.58 million) after concluding an investigation into the use of personal data in generative artificial intelligence applications. Garante found that OpenAI processed users' personal data to train ChatGPT without sufficient legal basis, violating transparency principles and obligations regarding user information.
