Data: The generative AI project raised a total of 56 billion US dollars in financing in 2024, setting a new record
According to data compiled by financial tracker PitchBook for TechCrunch, generative artificial intelligence companies worldwide raised $56 billion from venture capital in 2024, involving 885 transactions. This total cash amount set a new record in the field. It grew by 192% compared to 2023 when investors put $29.1 billion into 691 transactions of generative AI startups.
In particular, the transaction value soared to $31.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024, mainly due to the completion of some large-scale financings such as Databricks' $10 billion Series J financing, xAI's $6 billion Series C financing, Anthropic receiving Amazon's strategic investment of $4 billion and OpenAI's financing of $6.6 billion.
Ali Javaheri, a frontier technology analyst at PitchBook said in an interview: We have not seen a slowdown in funding for generative artificial intelligence because well-known companies like OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI continue to receive significant funding and launch new competitive products.
