Policy Impact Still Unclear as Fed Officials Reiterate Need to "Wait"
According to a report by Jinse Finance, Cleveland Federal Reserve President Loretta Mester and San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly stated on Tuesday evening local time that given the uncertainty of the impact of the Trump administration's policies, the best course of action for the Federal Reserve now is to wait before making any further policy decisions. The two regional Federal Reserve presidents reiterated at a joint appearance at the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank meeting that since trade policies remain uncertain, it is difficult to determine the direction of the economy, making it challenging to know how monetary policy should respond.
