Elliptic: The attack on an Iranian CEX by the Israeli-linked hacker group Gonjeshke Darande was not economically motivated
Blockchain security firm Elliptic reports that the attack on Iranian cryptocurrency exchange Nobitex by Gonjeshke Darande, a hacker group linked to Israel, resulted in a loss of $90 million and was not financially motivated. The stolen funds were sent to a vanity address, effectively destroying the tokens. (CoinDesk)
Earlier, the hacker group "Gonjeshke Darande" (Persian for "Fierce Sparrow") announced that it had launched a cyberattack on the Iranian cryptocurrency exchange Nobitex and warned that it would release the exchange’s source code and internal network information within 24 hours.
