Zelensky: Supports US Ceasefire Proposal and Calls for Sanctions Against Russia
According to Jinse Finance, on August 5 local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky stated in his routine evening video address that he had a phone call with U.S. President Trump that day, with the most important topic being how to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict as soon as possible. Zelensky said that Ukraine fully supports the U.S.-proposed "immediate ceasefire" initiative. He emphasized that the key is to make Russia feel the pressure from the international community, especially from the United States, as well as the threat of harsher sanctions resulting from the war. One crucial measure is to sanction Russia's oil exports.
