CleanSpark Accused by US Customs Over Some Bitcoin Miners Originating from China
According to ChainCatcher, citing a report from The Miner Mag, U.S. Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark disclosed in its Q2 2025 financial report that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has accused the company of importing some Bitcoin mining machines of Chinese origin between April and June 2024, requiring additional tariffs to be paid.
If the CBP's allegations are upheld, CleanSpark expects to face tariff expenses of up to $185 million (excluding statutory interest). CleanSpark stated it will vigorously contest the charges, claiming that both its import documents and hardware suppliers can confirm the equipment was not manufactured in China.
