Tesla receives ride-hailing license in Texas, paving the way for Robotaxi operations
Tesla has obtained a ride-hailing license in Texas, paving the way for the electric car manufacturer to operate its self-driving taxi service in accordance with the state's new regulations for autonomous vehicles. Tesla Robotaxi LLC has now been included in the licensed transportation network companies by Texas licensing and regulatory authorities, joining the ranks of companies such as Uber Technologies Inc., Lyft Inc., and others. This license has become necessary as the new law that took effect on September 1 in the state imposes the same regulations on autonomous ride-hailing vehicles as on human-driven ride-hailing vehicles.
