SlowMist: XMR Network Suspected of 51% Hashrate Attack, Users Advised to Wait for More Block Confirmations When Transacting
According to Jinse Finance, SlowMist has issued a security alert regarding a suspected 51% hashrate attack on the XMR network. Based on a post on X and the accompanying blockchain reorganization chart, XMR recently experienced a chain reorganization six blocks deep, initiated by an unknown mining pool. Currently, no mining pool listed on miningpoolstats holds more than 50% of the hashrate, so this may be a covert malicious hashrate attack or possibly an accidental mining race. The SlowMist security team recommends waiting for more block confirmations when transacting with XMR to reduce risk.
