Arbitrum Submits New Proposal to Build Ronin as an L2 Chain Based on Arbitrum Orbit
According to Jinse Finance, a new proposal suggests building Ronin as an L2 chain based on Arbitrum Orbit. This proposal comes as the Ronin team plans to migrate the current gaming chain into a fully Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 by 2026. The proposal states that Arbitrum offers unique advantages in helping Ronin "return" to Ethereum: Arbitrum has a dedicated Web3 gaming investment division, so as an L2 on the Orbit chain, Ronin will not only receive technical support but Arbitrum will also become a deeper strategic partner. Ronin L2 will use RON as its gas token and will be supported by Arbitrum Gaming Ventures. This plan will enable Ronin to natively support RON as a gas token, while also enjoying faster transaction speeds, greater customizability, autonomous governance, and optimized fee revenue for validators. Notably, Arbitrum Orbit is the only L2 technology stack on Ethereum that can natively support these four major ecosystem features without relying on "workarounds" or sacrificing upgradability.
