PayPal users in the U.S. will soon be able to make fast peer-to-peer payments via PayPal, Venmo, and compatible wallets using BTC, ETH, PYUSD, and other cryptocurrencies through personalized transfer links.

PayPal announced the integration of digital assets into its app, along with the launch of PayPal Links, personalized one-time links for direct transfers.
The integration of digital assets into PayPal’s P2P service will become available to U.S. users in the near future. The service will enable instant transfers both within the PayPal ecosystem and beyond. Users will be able to send BTC, ETH, PYUSD, and other supported tokens directly, without being limited to PayPal or Venmo accounts. The expanded functionality is aimed at simplifying global payments and connecting to billions of digital wallets compatible with digital assets.
With PayPal Links, users can initiate a payment by generating an individual link in the PayPal app, which can be shared via SMS, email, or social media chats. Each generated link is single-use and valid for ten days. If unused within that period, it will automatically expire. Funds will be credited instantly to the recipient’s PayPal balance. The feature is already live in the U.S. and will be rolled out to the U.K., Italy, and other countries by the end of September.
Diego Scotti, PayPal’s GM of Consumer Group, emphasized that PayPal Links is designed to simplify personal payments, which, as before, won’t be included in 1099-K tax reporting.
According to the company, P2P transaction volume in Q2 2025 increased by 10% year-over-year, driven by the launch of PayPal World , which ensures seamless interoperability between major digital wallets and payment systems, as well as the Pay with Crypto service that enables U.S. businesses of any size to accept cryptocurrencies.
