NBA player Tristan Thompson to launch Web3 project basketball.fun, tokenizing NBA players
ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, NBA player Tristan Thompson is teaming up with Improbable CEO Herman Narula and co-founder Hadi Teherany to create a new Web3 experience project, aiming to bring basketball fans a new way to watch games in the digital age.
The project, named basketball.fun, is set to launch before the NBA season in October and aims to gamify the interaction between fans, players, and games. The platform is developed based on the Layer1 blockchain Somnia, which launched earlier this month. Unlike traditional fantasy sports or fan tokens, the platform will tokenize NBA players, with player values fluctuating in real time according to fan sentiment and performance. Fans can build lineups, predict rising stars, and earn rewards. Teherany emphasized that the application will not issue a native token, and unlike projects that rely on token prices, player values will reflect fan sentiment and game results.
