OpenAI reaches hardware manufacturing agreement with Luxshare Precision, plans to launch first device by late 2026 or early 2027
Jinse Finance reported that, according to sources, Luxshare Precision has secured at least one assembly contract for an OpenAI device. In addition, OpenAI has also approached Goertek, the assembler of AirPods, HomePods, and Apple Watch, hoping to source speaker modules and other components for its future products. According to insiders, OpenAI's planned products include a smart speaker without a display, and it is also considering developing products such as glasses, digital voice recorders, and wearable pins. The first batch of devices is scheduled to be released at the end of 2026 or early 2027. OpenAI is making a strong push into the AI hardware sector and accelerating its efforts to poach talent from Apple, having reached a hardware manufacturing agreement with Luxshare Precision and currently in talks for cooperation with Goertek. Furthermore, since the beginning of this year, OpenAI has recruited more than 20 employees from Apple in the consumer hardware field.
