OpenAI CEO: "Superintelligence" May Emerge by the End of This Decade
According to Jinse Finance, Politico reported that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated in a media interview that "superintelligence" may emerge by the end of this century. When asked when superintelligence, which surpasses humans in all aspects, might appear, Altman said: "I expect the trajectory of AI capability improvement to remain extremely steep. In a few years, AI will likely be able to make some scientific discoveries that humans cannot accomplish alone. To me, that will begin to feel like something that can be appropriately called superintelligence. It's hard to predict exactly which year or month it will happen. But I would definitely say that by the end of this decade, that is, before 2030, if we don't have those extremely powerful models capable of accomplishing things we ourselves cannot do, I would be very surprised."
