OpenAI will allow users to shop directly through ChatGPT
BlockBeats News, September 30, OpenAI will allow ChatGPT users to shop directly through its popular AI chatbot without leaving the platform. The company stated on Monday that U.S. users will be able to purchase goods from local sellers on the e-commerce platform Etsy, as well as from selected Shopify merchants, within ChatGPT.
This service, called "Instant Checkout," currently only supports the purchase of single items. OpenAI has also released an open-source technical standard called the "Agentic Commerce Protocol," which allows merchants to integrate their products with ChatGPT and sell directly within the chatbot.
The company hopes to attract more merchants to join the ChatGPT platform through this initiative. However, OpenAI stated that the two major U.S. digital retailers, Amazon and Walmart, have not yet adopted this protocol. (Golden Ten Data)
