Xu Zhengyu: Hong Kong Plans to Consider RMB-Denominated Gold
ChainCatcher news, according to a report by Caixin, Hong Kong Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui stated in an exclusive interview with Caixin that Hong Kong's efforts to build an international gold trading center are not only aimed at helping investors diversify risks, but also at expanding the use of the RMB. Therefore, RMB-denominated gold is also being considered.
It is reported that in September 2025, in the fourth Policy Address of Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee during his term, the Hong Kong Treasury Bureau's Gold Market Development Task Force will implement five specific recommendations, including assisting issuers in launching tokenized gold investment products.
