Google Claims Quantum Supremacy May Restart, Sparking Discussions on Threats to Bitcoin
According to ChainCatcher, citing a report from CoinDesk, Google stated that its Willow quantum chip completed a computation simulating quantum chaos in just about 2 hours, whereas classical supercomputers would require significantly more time for the same task, according to comparative research.
This achievement used the measurement of OTCs as a validation benchmark. Researchers said this advances the practical application of quantum computing in areas such as Hamiltonian learning. The industry believes it is still too early for this to impact the cryptographic foundations of Bitcoin; Mysten Labs co-founder Kostas Kryptos Chalkias stated that "at least another 10 years are needed."
