Markets can address this issue. Myriad's Perpetual Sentiment Markets replace traditional surveys with a price discovery mechanism. Participants no longer just check an option but express their stance through buying or selling positions representing their beliefs, such as "fear vs. greed," "support vs. oppose a political figure," etc., and wager real money on their beliefs.
