On Tuesday, Warner Music Group (WMG) revealed that it has finalized an agreement with Suno, resolving its copyright dispute with the AI music company. In a press statement, WMG noted that this partnership with Suno will “pave the way for innovative possibilities in music creation, engagement, and exploration, while ensuring fair compensation and protection for artists, songwriters, and the broader creative sector.”

Additionally, WMG shared that it has sold Songkick—a platform for discovering live music and concerts—to Suno for an undisclosed price. WMG originally acquired Songkick’s app and brand in 2017, while Songkick’s ticketing division was later purchased by Live Nation.

According to WMG, Songkick will remain a hub for fans, now operated by Suno.

Thanks to the collaboration with WMG, Suno plans to introduce new, more sophisticated licensed models next year, replacing its current offerings. Accessing audio downloads will require a paid subscription, while free users will only be able to listen to and share tracks created on the platform.

Artists and songwriters represented by WMG will retain complete authority over how their names, likenesses, images, voices, and compositions are utilized in AI-generated music.

WMG’s roster features artists such as Lady Gaga, Coldplay, The Weeknd, Sabrina Carpenter, among others.

“This groundbreaking agreement with Suno is a win for creators everywhere,” stated WMG CEO Robert Kyncl in the announcement. “As Suno experiences rapid growth in both user base and revenue, we’ve taken this chance to develop models that boost earnings and introduce fresh experiences for fans.”

This development follows just a week after WMG resolved its copyright case with AI music company Udio and signed a licensing agreement for an AI music creation platform scheduled to debut in 2026.

The settlements between WMG and both Suno and Udio represent a major change in how the music business is handling AI. Last year, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment filed copyright lawsuits against Suno and Udio. While WMG has now resolved its disputes with both companies, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment are reportedly negotiating licensing deals with Udio and Suno and are working toward settling their own lawsuits.

Demonstrating growing investor trust in AI-driven music, Suno announced last week that it secured $250 million in Series C funding, valuing the company at $2.45 billion post-investment. Menlo Ventures led the round, with additional backing from Nvidia’s NVentures, Hallwood Media, Lightspeed, and Matrix.
