 in response to the "50 million USDT phishing attack" incident, the Ethereum Community Foundation posted on the X platform stating that the practice of truncating addresses with ellipses (such as 0xbaf4b1aF...B6495F8b5) should be immediately stopped. Address information needs to be fully displayed, as hiding the middle part of the address can cause unnecessary risks. Moreover, some UI options currently provided by certain wallets and block explorers also have security issues, which can actually be resolved. It is reported that the phishing attacker previously generated an address with the same first and last 3 characters, and the victim transferred 50 million USDT to the similar address generated by the attacker without carefully checking the copied address.

Address information needs to be displayed in full, as hiding the middle part of an address introduces unnecessary risks. Moreover, some UI options currently provided by certain wallets and block explorers also present security issues, all of which can actually be resolved. It is reported that in this incident, the phisher previously generated an address with the same first and last three characters.
